Another Firefox problem

Hey, I've been trouble free for too long, I guess...

I'm running XP and have been using Firefox for a few months since my last bunch of trouble. Last night when I tried to open FF, it said something about a flaw with the version I was using (not sure which?) and that I needed to upgrade. Now I can't reset my homepage (it always opens to that blasted Firefox Start page) even though my internet connections say my homepage is yahoo. I have also lost all of my bookmarks.

I had bookmarked many items for Christmas presents... :bawling: (for others)

I tried to fix and now I'm afraid they're gone for good.

If anyone can help, please remember that I need details on where to find things, please!

Stacy

Maybe a system restore would work, but I'd wait until some others post suggestions before doing that.

    Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

Pick restore my computer to an earlier time, and pick the most recent point before your problem started. :)

    C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\va5esgyr.default

if there is other ones under the Profiles, go into them all

there should be a file that is called bookmarks try importing it via bookmarks - manage bookmarks - file - import

open first to see if it has your links first

    Thanks for the replies.

gibbons, I have actually tried - but when I go into documents and settings under my user name, there is no folder called application data (?).

    Where do I find Profiles?

When I did open firefox I tried importing bookmarks and the only option they gave me for importing was from Firefox 1.0...

Rick, thanks, I may try the system restore.

OK, did system restore, unhid the folders I needed, reinstalled firefox, and all is back to normal

Thanks, I guess!!! Don't know what worked, but something did! (Then I couldn't access this site for the past few hours...)

Hi Stacy, you can't see application data by default as it's a hidden folder :)

    To enable hidden folders:

    Start Menu->Control Panel->Folder Options->View->Show Hidden files and folders :)

The site was temporarily down for a DNS switchover :)
