toshiba lappy problem

hey guys,

i have a toshiba satellite 3000 with me now.. and its been running fine until recently, where my computer stopped detecting my cd-rom drive. oddly however when i swap the cdrom drive with the floppy drive.. the laptop detects it normally. does this mean the cdrom drive is b0rked? or is there some weird setting out of place?
