First post...big problem.

I was trying to copy a cd for a friend, using RecordNow and the disc was not big enough or something. Anyway, I canceled the programe and went to load a cd, just to listen to. I put the cd in and it seems like it is loading (green light flashing and a few noises) but the cd never loaded. The I tried another cd, not working. The I tried a disc of a programe, WOULD NOT LOAD. I hit start, then run, then looked in the D drive and nothin was there!

Please help! The PC is new enough and I dont own it and I will be in trouble if this does not get working!!

Have you tried rebooting the computer?

try reboot the pc and get into "my computer". look whether the cd-rom drive icon is there or not...if yes, then probablyly the cd-rom is break down. if not, try to plug the cable behind cdrom and plug it in again. do the same also with the power cable that attach.

cd heads might be dirty. use a cd drive cleaner and see if that works. could be dust in the drive causing read errors

well i restarted my pc and it still is not working. I checked my computer and the cd-rom drive icon is there...so you said it is probably a break down. what exactly does this mean.

note: i dont think it needs to be cleaned the pc is only about 4 weeks old.

:( if the cdrom icon is there then probably the cdrom is break down already. there is a final thread, change the ide cable behind the cdrom drive because that cable responsible for data transmitting. if this doesn't help then ur cdrom is break down.send to warranty and remember don't open the cdrom and fix it by ur own(when goods is still under warranty).although the cdrom is new, it may break down too.that's why the factory is giving the warranty. just like my friends motherboard which had been send to warranty 3 times.
