ATI driver troubles

first off, hardware:

ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 32MB DDR
Voodoo3 3000 PCI card (secondary monitor)
ABIT NF7-S
Athlon XP 2500+
Windows XP Pro SP1

second off:

i tried installing omega's 3.6 catalysts over the stock 3.6 catalysts. I may have done things in the wrong order, thus causing many problems: i uninstalled the ATI control panel and then installed the omegas.

when i rebooted in order for 'changes to take place,' everything seemed all fine and dandy, with the big exception that whenever any 2d images took a long time to be drawn (like the start menu took about half a second to be fully drawn).

anyways, i uninstalled the drivers using the uninstaller provided and rebooted. everything was shifted to my second monitor on my voodoo3 and nothign was displayed (after the starting windows screen) on my primary monitor.

in the end i had to use system restore to restore everything to what it was before the omegas were installed.

now i'm trying to put a fresh install of of the stock ATI drivers and am getting 2 errors:

"INF error
Video driver not found"
and immediately after
"Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA
driver before running setup"

how would i go about doing that? i've tried just about everything i know but still haven't found anything that will get a standard VGA driver to be installed.

please help!

Go back with the system restor so it is the way it was before the Omegas was installed and everything was fine and dandy.
Uninstall ALL ati programs, even use a "Ati cleaner". Reboot and install the Omegas. Everything is included in the Omegas and you dont need anything else.

just did what you said Mac and i still have the miserably choppy 2D, thought the 3D still works quite well.

how would i got about just wiping the omega drivers so that i can just use the stock drivers?

Im thinking that the extra cpi-card you have there MIGHT causing some troubles, but I´m not sure.
Maybe the 3.6 doesn´t like your radeon? Tried 3.5?

How about firing up Device Manager, removing your "Radeon DDR" entry from underneath the "Display Adapter" listing.

Download the Catalyst 3.6's from www.atitech.ca

Start your PC up in safe mode (hit F8 at the black screen AFTER your PC POST's, but before you see the Windows XP boot screen), open Device Manager and remove any and all other entries you can find regarding your Radeon.

Uninstall all graphics drivers that you can & any ATI overclocking utilities.

Shut down the PC and cold-boot your machine into Windows XP.

Re-install the Catalyst 3.6's and see if that helps.
