'Lo everyone! I've been spending the evening trying to clean HSA, and it's various spin-offs, out of my parents computer. Granted, I'm barely a techie-really, way more interest in computer art and games than the inner workings-but everytime something goes wrong, I'm the one to fix it.

Anyhow, the first time I ran it, my hijackthis log says the files were still lurking around, but the hijacking had stopped, and now it says their are no more files to be found. If I'm allowed to use a bad gaming metephore, have I beat the final boss, or is there another hiding around the next bend? Either way, many many thanks for the guide, it was a huge help!

Next begins my quest to convert them to Firefox, so I can stop the cheap tech-support gig.

You will have to see if there is a hidden dll. Or, reboot a few times, running IE each time, then check the log.

Hum, yeah, seems I didn't beat it after all. >.> The homepage was hijacked again, shortly after writing that post, and I gave up for the evening. I guess I'll have to try again in the morn'. Bleh.
