Problem uploading complete WU through port 80

Hi folks,
over the years I've always had a problem uploading completed WUs through port 80, never a problem through port 8080, possibly a problem created by my ISP NTL. I have a WU refusing to upload through port 80.
In the past, I've got over the problem by the rather laborious route of subjecting the queue.dat file to some work with a HEX editor to change the port from 80 to 8080, it seemed to work but I was never convinced that it was the right solution.
Since using BitTorrent, I've learned how to open various ports in my router to allow traffic to certain ports, but have always been a bit afraid.
Question is:
Should I continue with the HEX editing of a WU to get it to upload or perhaps open port 80 ( it currently shows up as stealthed) I'm really not sure how the security bit works. I need a bit of guidance here.
Cheers

Never mind, hacked queue.dat with a HEX editor and the WU's finally gone.
