Screen shots of an early version of MSN's desktop search application began circulating on the Web on Monday, indicating that Microsoft Corp.'s Internet division plans to release a product with deep connections to Windows.
Technology enthusiast site Neowin.net first disclosed the product details, prompting an MSN executive to post on MSN Search's Weblog that the screen shots are from an internal prerelease version of its desktop search.

"While we're flattered by the attention and interest, this was an unauthorized disclosure," wrote Oshoma Momoh, general manager of MSN Search program management, in a blog posting. "As many of you know, we have been working on a PC search product for some time, and have demonstrated some early prototypes over the past several months."
Do we really want an MS search feature with deep connections in windows? -KF

Interesting to hear MSN is finally reacting... Looks like they want to give google a run for the money. The question is, can they make a better product? The new MSN search didn't do so hot when they ran into the "beta search technical problem" and their stocks fell as a result. I'm surprised to see yahoo and msn react so slowly to googles market share jump. I guess it's only a matter of time before they too release services that can compete with google web search, gmail, and google desktop search...
