Hi all:

Well, I'm new to the board...been lurking a while. I thought I'd try to make my first post a helpful one. Doing research on my new A7N8X-VM/400 yielded useful information about the motherboard's TV out features and its RAM compatibility. Don't you hate it when you can't get part information about the cheaper accesories from dealers because they can't be bothered or are too lazy? Because no one would give it to me, I'm going to try to provide some of it here.

First off, I want people to know that TV OUT Brackets or dongles (slot cover with connector) ARE available, at least from some distributors in North America. The model number for that bracket is AV/S . It provides Composite out and SVideo Out ports.

There is also an Asus AGP add-on card, model AGP/NV/DVI for TV OUT compatible machines in the A7N8X series and, A7V8 ?? series, which provides for DVI, Composite and SVideo output, but as I said, using the AGP slot, instead of as a bracket. This card is about twice the price, but still cheap. In case you didn't know, this card allows you to use the nVidia graphics chip in nview mode, which allows for simultaneous display of picture on

There are two Asus options for SP/DIF Modules (Brackets): the S/PDIF OUT/COA+OPT Module has 1 Optical fiber out jack and 1 coaxial out jack. The S/PDIF IN-OUT/COA module has 1 coaxial in jack and 1 coaxial out jack. I hope that helps a few people.

Now, on to RAM.
The RAM information I got from various sources, but mostly from the RAM mfgrs websites. Please don't flame me if it doesn't work. Verify compatibility first. I entered A7N8X-VM/400 into the manufacturer's website configurator to get these results. Sorry for the crappy formatting-it was just too time consuming to create a decent table.

    You said dongles ;D

In all seriousness though, it looks like you put a lot of time and effort into the post, and it appears to be a good one. I'm not all into HTPC's and the like, but the more I learn about them, the more interested I get.
