Video Capture -> Animated Gif

So... if I had a few frames from a DVD that I captured, what's the best program to use to make them into an animated .gif? I've got a few ideas for avatars and other annoying distractions :)

    Or if you have lots of money to spend, Adobe After Effects ($1000+)

    AEFX good. Can get into lots of trouble with AEFX. Can do lots of good stuff with AEFX.

    I use Adobe Image Ready. It's very nice and convinient.
