Microsoft To Cease Support For Windows NT Server 4.0 On January 1
Corporate and private users of the Windows NT Server 4.0 platform will have to look for support services elsewhere than Microsoft starting on January 1, 2005.
Source: Tom's Hardware GuideThe Redmond firm will phase out its pay-per-incident and premier support on this date. The official lifecycle support page also indicates that online support may no longer be offered starting on January 1. According to Microsoft's support guidelines, users however will have access to online resources "for a minimum of one year after Premier support and pay-per-incident support have been discontinued".
Windows NT 4.0 Server was introduced in September 1996 and was removed from the retail channel on July 1, 2002. The software was available through the system builder channel through July 1, 2003.
