WinXP RPC Procedure?!?!
Ok this problem cropped up a week or two ago, but it didn't happen too often. First, IEXPLORE.EXE or DCOMX.EXE would crash, giving the the old "send error report/don't send" popup... then it would give me the message attached, and reboot after the countdown ended. Now it's happening every time I boot up.
hold on i gotta reboot again... this is stupid
OK, every time I startup, IEXPLORE.EXE is crashing... without me doing anything. If i click "don't send" the RPC popup comes up immediately, and I've got a minute until total meltdown. If I don't click it, I have around 30 before it comes up anyways

Boot into safemode with networking and download this patch linked from this page here
It got to where I couldn't even boot my PC into Windows for more than 20 seconds earlier

Go to "Services" and in "Remote Procedure Call",set the "action taken" to "Restart Service",instead of "Restart the Computer"
Install the patch, enable the XP Firewall, and you should be good to go--for awhile,at least.
If you find a file on your machine named "msblast.exe"--kill it in task manager, then go to the system32 folder and delete it.
Also delete the registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\windows auto update, it points to C:\windows\system32\msblast.exe.
Hope this helps--it worked for me(I didn't have msblast.exe on my system,though)

... I fixed it in short order!
