renewing ip address

edited November 2004 in Science & Tech
I've tried everything from using the command prompt, to the repair function, its chaintech mpm800 mainboard, friend gave this to me for installing OS, so I installed the xp professional, no problems on any other box on the network, however this one is a @#$##. This guy changed the voltage switch on the back of the powersupply to the funky overseas setting, so he fried one wire connecting to his card reader, but that looked to be only thing damaged.. I have the windows xp installed and everything else seems to be working without a hitch, I'm really stumped and need help, network adapter reads 0.0.0.0 all the way down, but I can't get it to obtain ip address or renew. reinstalled the card multiple times, I need help, also I'm using comcast digital cable, no problems with any other box on the lan

Its integrated to mainboard though, also getting 3 post codes, which can't be normal, one was related to ram, waiting on feedback for the other two numbers. I'm about to throw it out the window.

You can disable the onboard lan, and just go with a PCI nic.
