Home Search Assistant = killing me too!

Hey all, I have tried everything I could find to get rid of this thing and it just won't go away. It's on a co-worker's computer, so I can't vouch for their usage of the system, but as far as clean-up attempts, I've used Ad-Aware, multiple virus scans, About:blaster, HSRemove, spywareblaster, spybot S&D, and a few others. I've gone through the removal guide on this site as well, including removing entries I could indentify as bad with HijackThis!

I couldn't find any bad services or registry keys, even after using the downloadable VBS script from the guide. I couldn't identify any apparent bad O4 lines in my HJT log, but the hijack is still there.

I'll attach my log here in case anyone can help, and much thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time!

Just as an update...the last About:Buster and HiJackThis fixes I did in safe mode on my last reboot seem to have crippled HSA somewhat, although I still get the R0 and R1 entries showing up in my log. I will attach an update one to this post

(Apologies for posting the log wrong the first time as well)

Fix those entries then find and delete wuort.dll, pull the plug on your computer, and post a new log.

Did as you said, and the new log looks much better. I couldn't find the file "wuort.dll" to delete, but it didn't show up again anyway...does this mean it's gone for the time being? Thanks again for the help,

Your log looks okay now. Try rebooting normally a few times and see if it comes back. If it does, post a new log.
  • edited November 2004
yeah, it seems to be working fine for now, i'll repost if it comes back. Thanks again for the help.
