it's day of defeat with the hl2 engine. I'm not sure if it's just the physics engine (like HL1 source), or they updated the graphics as well.

Shwaip, I think you got it backwards. HL:Source has the updated graphics, but not the updated physics...

now if i download it through steam do i get something like an exe i can save to disk for back-up purposes? also can you buy the day of defeat source by itself(like if you have a normal retail boxed version of HL2)?

DoD:Source comes with the HL2 silver and gold packages. When it comes out, we can download it.

To create game backup, right click on the game in the steam menu and click "backup" . it will archive all the game files into a single huge chunk .EXE file that you can use to install the game again. You can burn this onto a DVD or multiple CDs (it has the option to split it into CD sized chunks).

you may be able to "upgrade" to the silver package, which includes dod:source, iirc.

I might write a quick guide on how to backup the files later.

Best guide, with the program I use.
