BSOD while running AVG antivirus on WinXP Pro

edited November 2004 in Hardware
I had NAV, but got rid of it after getting several BSODs. Someone recommended AVG anitivirus. It was great for a couple of weeks, then during a virus scan a couple of days ago---I got a BSOD.

Here's what it gave me:

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

Stop: 0x0000004E (0x00000007, 0x0000071B, 0x000041AF, 0x00000000)

Dude, if you're getting BSODs, it most likely is a hardware problem.

Have you checked your memory using memtest?

Funnily enough, I've recently had an issue with AVG.

On one of my folding boxes I kept getting complete lockups about the same time every day ( on a WIN98 system).
I eventually found that it was when AVG was scheduled to run.
Stopped it running and I haven't had a lockup since.

I haven't had time to look at the problem but I'm running Norton as well so no urgency.

    Crypto :)
