error when installing ms-dos or 16 bit

I am having trouble installing a new printer. whenever I run the installation cd for the printer, I get a prompt that syas:


C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application...

Regardless of all the fixes I have found , non have worked.

I have followed all information from microsoft website, to no avail...

can anyone advise???

    Yes, the file is broken. Reget the driver file set, and note that XP likes 32 bit drivers.

    Next, tell us what printer you are trying to install drivers for, OK??? And tell us if you are nto running XP, what version of Windows you are running. I suspect you have drivers intended for XP, 2000, or NT 4 that you are trying to install on another Windows version. XP drivers are likely to be 32 bit and will not run or install well on 98 or Me, for example. By knowing what widnows version and waht brand and model of printer you want to install drivers for, it might be possible we can help find drivers that will work with your windows version (no guarantees, but we can try).
