Need help getting rid of LOP
Hi everyone,
I've had an irritating blue search bar at the bottom of my screen for a couple of months now, which I'm pretty sure I got from Messenger Plus! (before I knew any better), which I have since deleted.
I'm well up for leaning how to do things for myself as opposed to being spoon fed, so I've been reading up, following guides and such and trying my best to get rid of it but it seems to evolve! Before I used to get favourites added and sent to web pages (search2web, passthough and stuff,I think) and I managed to stop that, but the blue bar keeps coming back eventually, as does the searchbar entry at the top of Hijackthis with random letters and the altered "Webpage not found" page never leaves.
Today I decided to sit down and get rid of it for good, downloaded the Windows updates, updated my Antivirus, Adaware (which regularly finds and removes LOP), Search and Destroy (which regulary finds and removes DSO exploits) and Hijackthis, then ran them all.
Now the blue search bar is fixed in the bottom of the screen and cannot be closed, and a silver bar has appeared under the address line in Internet Explorer. The silver search bar picks up info from the page I'm viewing and puts it in titles and tabs to the right. Things like email addresses when I'm on Hotmail, and info from my internet banking page, which I'm not loving. It can be removed by right clicking and going to help then disable toolbar, but I know it's still there. I can smell it. I know its coming back.
I could really do with some personalised help about getting rid of this cos it's doing my nut. I'd be eternally gratefull.

PS Also found a dat file named ntuser and a text document named ntuser.dat as hidden files in all the User Folders inside Documents and Settings. I have a feeling I read somewhere that there should be no files in this folder, only folders, is this right? Tanx again
