NVidia GeForce 2 MX MX400 update

edited November 2004 in Hardware
I'm having difficulty updating my graphics drivers on Windows ME. Two attempts have failed. After installation, I lose the ability to open adobe documents, or run any games, etc. Neither NVidia or Dell provide online support for video drivers. I've used system restore to recover my old driver.
Can anyone offer trouble shooting steps or solutions? Or is it best to just get a new driver?
Also, not long ago I had a spyware infestion called IDE21201.VXD by TrendMicro or WUpd by Panda. TrendMicro says this trojan is a device driver installed to the Windows/System folder, used to obtain info from the hard drive. Could this infestation or its removal with a commercial product (Giant) be an issue?

What driver are you attempting to update your video card with, and can you provide the link of where you're obtaining it?

If the product does its job appropriately, it shouldn't be an issue.. But I've never heard of the program, therefore I remain skeptical. Call me an egotist, but generally I've heard of it if its worth its salt.

Giant antispyware is a trusted, legitimate spyware removal product, although it's effectiveness has been questioned at times.. Usually it takes multiple products (mostly free ones) to get rid of spyware - no single product can do the job.

Guess I'm a bit old guard in spyware removal. Have spybot, adware and HJT.. Will travel.

Though bringing up the point of effectiveness, it may be worth posting a hijackthis log.

The driver update for NVidia GeForce2 MX MX 400 for Windows ME is:
    Version: 61.76
    Release Date: July 20, 2004
and the updated driver is downloaded from NVidia at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_61.76Windows 95/98/Me
    Thanks!

I tracked down the release notes for the v61.76 drivers from nVidia (They can be read here: You'll need a PDF reader) and your card is in fact supported by the newest driver release.

That leaves me looking elswhere. I don't think it's necessarily related to drivers, yet. Do you know how to post a HiJackThis log?

    Thanks, Thrax.
I'm pretty confident my IDE21201.vxd is gone, but here is the HiJack Log. If other garp can be removed, I'd appreciate knowing that.
