public posting of e-mail address

edited December 2004 in Science & Tech
Someone I love has badgered me into designing a little website to sell stuff. So I'm learning html and xhtml... Does anyone have a good suggestion or example of how to prevent the email address from being harvested and attacked?

    Dont have an email on the site at all! Instead have a HTML form which mails to you :)

    Or place the e-mail address in a GIF or JPEG, not hyperlinked in any way. It can be read and manually typed into an e-mail, but cannot be harvested, except the old fashioned way (manually...)

    Forms are better...

    Someone whose email address is publicly posted only here:
    http://www.mapm.org/member.htm
    is being innundated with spam and bounces from spoofed mail. He assumes that it is because his e-mail is being harvested here. So,can anyone tell me what is wrong with this code for this page?
    Thanks
