3Ds Max issue with Enabling Shadows
RWB
Icrontian
I originally had a Photometric IES Sun in my scene with Shadows enabled, now I am trying to work on various lighting setups... but all the others won't cast shadows, the options are greyed out. The only way I can have shadows right now are by using the Sun... all others won't let me ARG.
I have been messing around with the options, but I don't know what I did that could have changed this.
EDIT
Actually some of the others let me cast shadows, but the ones that don't are;Skylight, IES Sky... the ones that I WANT to use.

THING WON'T MOVE! I have the pull out the gizmo options and use the wheels instead of the gizmo, and when I create objects they are created in some random location off the viewing area?! I don't know what the hell is going on.
But I still cannot get shadows done properly, right now all I have is an Omni light inside the moon... I may just do some bouncing of the lights from that one source and see how that comes out.
Now I'll begin Xrefing in all the tree's and bushes I have been working on, I still need to texture them. Plus I gotta do the texturing of the island itself, that texture is going to be the most complex thing on this whole project, I decided not to do grass... or hair, couldn't find a good plugin. This whole thing is being done with plain ol' max... wish I had brazil or Vray OR ANYTHING... grrrrrrrr I hate not being able to afford things like that Geeky guy
For your lighting setup, can't you just place the lights where you need them in order to make your scene look good instead of trying to be physically accurate. Just a suggestion.
