Slow Writes on HighPoint 404

edited November 2004 in Hardware
I've updated the bios and drives and still get horrible write benchmarks. 3mb/s is max.
Highpoint 404 with 4 identical drives raid 10 configuration.
WinXP Pro SP2
Bios does not load due to SCSI card in pci slot 1 (OS)

I've used a spare ide drive and booted, allowing HighPoint Bios to load, and still has the same issue.
ATTO benchmarks on single drive on Motherboard IDE channel has very fast reads/writes. Anything connected to the RAID Controller has horrible writes (even tried raid 0)
Any ideas?

I think this card is going back. Probably switch to a Promise SX4060.
I've tried an Older bios, moved to another PCI slot.

Iv'e had both cards. In fact I've owned probably ten to 15 differant ide raid controllers. Stay away from the promise. Your better with a low end promise car or a later model HPT card.

Now... Can you test the drives individualy and also try another benchmark for the raided drives. With XP or win2k MS has jacked stuff around so that ATTO isnt always accurate. If either drive or cable was bad it would also screw stuff up. test with hdtach and sandra and see what they say.
