There is a new driver available for that. I'd bet your MB site hasn't picked up the update yet.

Give it a try. If you're still having problems we'll come up with something else. :)

Usually with sound problems it comes down to something simple.

Check the BIOS - is the onboard sound enabled?

Are you using the right cable, and is it plugged into the right place?

Are the speakers plugged into a power source and turned on? (My personal favorite mistake...)

If you have a portable CD player, or anything else with an earphone jack, try the speakers there. If you get sound at least you'll know that they aren't the problem. If you have a spare set of speakers try those on the computer.

Lots of sound cards and onboard sound come with a utility which determines how each jack functions. If you are using plain-vanilla stereo speakers and have the hardware set for 5.1 sound (or whatever) it can change the location of the appropriate speaker jack.

What brand and model MB is this? Knowing that might give us a few more ideas. :)
