Boot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. To get back to normal mode just restart the computer as you normally would.

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

* Automatically save log-file
* Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
* Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

* Scan Within Archives
* Scan Active Processes
* Scan Registry
* Deep Scan Registry
* Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
* Scan my Hosts file
* Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
* All of your hard drives

Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

* Include additional process information
* Include additional file information
* Include environment information

Click the Tweak button and select:

* Under the Scanning Engine:
o Unload recognized processes & modules during scan
o Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
* Under the Cleaning Engine:
o Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

Click on Proceed to save the settings.

Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

* Use Custom Scanning Options

Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

Reboot your computer.


Post a new hijackthis log so we can see if there's anything left.

Boot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.


Show hidden files
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.

1. Please download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe
2. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
3. Check the I know what I'm doing box.
4. In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of pfftsp.dll.
5. Select every instance of pfftsp.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
6. When you are done click Finish>>.

Boot into Safe Mode

Run CCleaner. Empty the recycle bin when it's done.

Run Adaware.
Make sure to select "Perform full system scan".


Reboot to normal mode.

Install and run Spyware Blaster. Make sure you check for updates immediately. Click on the "Enable All Protection" link under Quick Tasks on the main screen. Then you can close the program. SpywareBlaster does not need to remain open for its protection to be active!

It's very important that you do this step before you open up Internet Explorer.


When you ran LSPFix, you should have only removed pfftsp.dll

This can not be fixed with hijackthis. To do so would probably break your internet connection. So we use this tool called LSPFix. It's very important that you only remove this file and no others.

pfftsp.dll

1. Please download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe
2. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
3. Check the I know what I'm doing box.
4. In the Keep box you should see one instance of pfftsp.dll.
5. Select pfftsp.dll and move it to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
6. When you are done click Finish>>.


Now when you view your hijackthis log you should not see the 010 entry. Feel free to post the log if you want me to look it over and make sure you're clean.
