i jsut tried it again with brand new drivers, so now i know the exact error message as well... basically i have an error code 1024, driver could not be loaded.

It says that the txtsetup.oem file caused d:/... something to crash or whatever... now i have been trying to add the txtsetup file but so far i havent had any succes... Its not a bug, becuase the one from my 32bit drivers work, but of course i cant load them...

ok got them to work but not with the downloaded version of windows 64 bit... why can that be?

Problems with oemsetup, as you write it is probably from damaged floppy disk.
It was the reason on my computer, though I used nvidia raid controller.
Try another floppy media. Or maybe release the screws fastening the floppy drive itself.

well thats what i thought as well, however, the downloaded version is the only version that wont work with it... the other one does work with it... exact same floppies.. btw, i have used differnt ones as well..

    Hi there!

I have similar or maybe the same problem!
I have a gigabyte GA-7A8DW mobo and i´m trying to install XP x64 on my computer but i cant install the SATA driver. After i pressed F6 i tried to install the si3114 driver provided on my mobos instalation CD and i got the following error:

file\amd64\si3114.sys caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2335 in d:\srvrtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

Can somebody please tell me how can i solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance

I am not an expert when it comes to driver questions, however, i have fiddled with them a little bit.

From my experience, which might very well differ from others, the SI drivers are bad, very bad, and they do not work with win64bit. I have also encountered differences in the builds of x64 that are out right now, the older ones seem to support the current drivers better than the knew one does.

My mainboard, luckily, has to raid controllers, via and Sillicon Image. After having had a lot of trouble with sillicon i decided to switch to via, and since then x64 works.. I don't know you have have that option, i am not familiar with you mainboard. Still, I hope this sort of helps you

It'sm probably going to be this afternoon, when i come back from my exams.. ;)

    Thanks Mauli!!!

I dont think i have the two options only the sillicon image one!! For the 32bits driver i didnt have any problem everything went fine! but for the 64 it´s been a nightmare!!! I´ve tried different drivers but none worked!!

    Good luck in your exams!!

Yeah i know how it feels. The problem wit x64 drivers is that almost no company puts any effort into it yet, because only few people bother to buy x64 processors and then use the eval copy of windows. Once x64 is out for real, then they will make serious ones. I will look into it further though, i shall see..

Thank you, i'll need any luck that i can get :p

edit: which build are u using?

Well there is nothing else to do then, except waitting for them to decide to make us happy and lunch the apropriate drivers!!! :shakehead

    Thanks

yeah, i am sorry about that. Of course you could try linux, the people that you will ask for drivers tehre will greatly help you.. I can tell you what they will tell you...

"Oh well tahts easy, just recompile the kernel and it will work"

After spending many hours and trying many different si3114 drivers (most of which triggered a windows exception after selecting them for the F6 preinstall), I finally found an si3114 raid 5 driver to work on my system from the following site:

    http://forum.hardware.fr/hardwarefr/Hardwa...et-638355-1.htm

    I used the following driver:

    Silicon Image 3114 Raid Driver - Windows 64bit (v1.1.0.1)

After I loaded Windows (server 2003 standard x64), I installed the SI3114 x64 drivers from Gigabyte's driver update page. These drivers appear to only work after Windows is already installed.

Configuration: The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9. The CPU is an AMD64 3500+ (venice core). I have been running four 74 GB Raptors in a raid 5 configuration for 4 days now. Completely stable thus far.

My new server (Tyan S2882G3NR-D) uses a Sil3114 though I'm not using the RAID functionality just yet. The driver from Silicon Image's website worked just fine for me under Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition.
