Can't get rid of Bugbear from sytem restore

I foolishly volunteered to retrieve some data from a malfunctioning hard drive by putting it in my box as a slave. Unfortunately, it had 4 instances of Bugbear on it. :(

My Norton and AVG picked it up, moved it to quarantine where I thought I had deleted them. Now, at regular intervals I get a message from AVG to say that Bugbear is present in E:System Volume Information\_restore{blah blah..\A0024789.exe.

When I navigate to that location i get a message to say that access is denied, but even so, when I right click on properties is says that the folder holds zero bytes.

If I run Norton or AVG virus scan manually it doesn't find anything, but still the pop up comes to tell me that it's there.

How can I finally rid myself of these files.

Thanks

turn off system restore. delete restore points then rescan.. AVG has a tendancy to see a lot of things in the restore folders for some reason.. i had it do that to me recently

    Thanks M8,

I've just done as you suggested and will wait to see the results.

If it's good I'll report back and re-enable system restore.

    Cheers

I have had that too. Macafee sometimes randomly decideds to tell me that some kind of file in restore has a virus on it. Turn off system restore & see methingks...

Looks like that fixed it. Haven't had an AVG nag for 16 hours now.

    Thanks chaps. :D:D
