Misleading CD-RW speeds?

I have a Memorex 52x32x52 CD-RW, but the Nero software that came bundled with it is only allowing it to read @ 24x and write @12x (no option to go higher). How do I go about actually going to 52x32x52?

    is the CD u are using rated for 52x??

    Somebody posted a link here ages ago to an article that explained CD speeds. From what it said, there isn't a CD that'd take 52 speed, it'd fly apart before getting there.

    No, but it's rated at 40x, which is still miles above the 24x I'm maxing out at.
