    Hi mate. Thanks for posting.

Firstly I'm sad to say SpeedTouch seem to be taking the stance that until Windows XP 64-Bit Edition goes final e.g OEM, they won't even start to think about producing any 64-bit drivers for their products.

I'm pretty sure there is no way to get your SpeedTouch product working under XP64. We'll all just have to sit and wait for SpeedTouch to decide it's time for them to warrant developing such drivers. I imagine though that won't be at least until the final version of the OS is released.

Your best bet would be to buy an ADSL Router which doesn't require drivers.

Here are a couple of threads over at PlanetAMD64 that might interest you though.

Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.

    Cheers

    UPDATE **********************

In reply to my question "when are the X64 drivers going to be availiable?"
    Dear Valued SpeedTouch Customer,

Thank you for contacting SpeedTouch Customer Support.

Your reference number with our helpdesk is:XXXXXXXXXXX
An updated driver is in development, release expected at end June or early July..The updated driver will be posted at www.speedtouch.co.uk/330.asp when available.

In the short term we can advise either the use of an Ethernet based router such as the SpeedTouch 510, or revert back to windows xp (normal)

During this period of development we have arranged for the ST510e Ethernet router to be discounted through our partner site at: http://www.speedtouchonline.com/510e_datasheet.asp

See also http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/solutions.asp for setup details of the SpeedTouch 510 with xp 64 bits

If you have further questions, please contact us by phone or send us an email, so that we may further assist you.

    Kind Regards,

Well we have a date, eventually!!!!!!!! Good job Microsoft offered pre-release X64 to stop all these delays!!!

I'm sure it will be this year. ;D

Peripheral manufacturers are still inexcusably behind with XP64 supporting drivers. For example, Logitech still doesn't offer 64-bit webcam support, Canon hasn't even uttered a word regarding the fact that none of their products will function under XP64.

I do imagine though that 90% of mainstream modern peripherals will have full driver support by the end of the year, but that's a long time to wait considering they've had plenty of time to work on drivers in the run up to the OS's official release.

Patients, sadly, seems the only alternative. :)

In my continuing saga of getting speedtouch off their backsides and do some work on the long overdue 330 drivers for X64.

I will post my (now 3rd) email followed by their interesting reply.

    My email
I have emailed about the availability of the 330 driver for X64 that was promised late June or early July. It is now Late August and still no sign of the driver. My last email was ignored so please could you let me know when this driver is expected to be available?

    Their reply
    Dear Mr Greswolde
    ,

Thank you for contacting SpeedTouch Customer Support.

Your reference number with our helpdesk is: XXXXXXXX

I have read your mail concerning the 64 bit drivers.

Your E-mail hasn?t been ignored (we get a lot of impatient E-mails), but there is nothing we can do to speed up the process.

If you have further questions, please contact us by phone or send us an email, so that we may further assist you.

    Nice reply huh????

    My reply
    Henri,

I understand you can not speed up the process but could you please answer my question of when the driver is due for release?

I am not sure that, chasing up a reply after 3 weeks counts as being impatient.

You cant avoid the unmistakable hall-mark of quality customer service!
Good job there isn't a huge amount of modem manufacturers about or they may lose business with this type of dismal effort!

I don't know about anyone else, but if this is the kind of reply from customer service that is issued after a polite request for information, i dread to think what would come if i had a complaint.

I will definitely think again before getting any Thomson / speedtouch hardware again. How does everyone else feel?
