HTML files (this isn't the right forum I know)

edited December 2004 in Internet & Media
Hi everyone,

I don't know what forum this goes in, but I archived some personal messages I have on another forum into an "html file." I saved that, but when I try to open it from my desktop it asks me to choose the program to use to open the file. What should I do?

Should I be archiving them as an "Importable MS Excel datafile" instead? That's the only other option the site gives for archiving.

Thanks.

tell it to use whatever browser you use to surf the intarwebnet to open the file.

Ohh I was trying to open in Explorer instead of my default browser. Okay so I'll always be able to open that file, whether I have an internet connection or not, right?

As long as the file is saved to your computer (even in your cache) you can view it without an Internet connection. If you want to view the source of the .html file, open it in Notepad or Wordpad.
