hurl?

Last night I wanted to listen to some music clips on Amazon. I clicked the link to play one and it put one of those dos box's on my desktop, it is called hurl. It didn't play any of the tunes so I want to get rid of it but it won't let me. When I try to delete it it says it can't delete it as it's being used by another person or programme. I tried in safe mode and get the same message. What is it and more to the point how do I get rid of it?
Cheers guys.

Bothered, see if you can find a file with HURL in its name. IF so, write down the path and file name. Then search for that path and filename in the registry, delete any specific and exact mathces, and then restart computer. THEN delete the files.

Note, for other of us older folks also, HURL does not any longer just mean "throw thing(s) hard with your arm," it also has a slang meaning of "vomit because you are ill or poisoned." I hate this kind of thing that system registers itself from media files or player installs and makes computers barf or malfunction in software sense.

Cheers John but the only path I have is to the desktop shortcut. I wouldn't even know where to begin in the registery, there's millions of entries in there.

    Bothered,

have you ever used regedit before? I've had a bit of luck with that in the past.

Go to start>run> type in regedit > edit>find type in HURL and then F3 will take you to any circumstances with that name in.

I believe the standard warning at this stage is to back up your registry before making any alterations etc.

    Cheers

Cheers crypto, does this look like it? What do I do with it, just delete or rename?

That entry just says that you've searched for it using the "find" feature.
