One of my buddies has an x300 and the other has a 9800pro... and they have identical FPS in UT2k4.... yet the 9800Pro still costs $200+ and the x800 was only $80. Why is this card so cheap and have such great performance?

Same systems were used to benchmark?
    Same resolutions?
    Same drivers?
    Same in-game quality settings?

Unless I am mistaken, there is no way in hell an X300 can touch a 9800 Pro in 3D capabilities. At least the X300 sitting in a brand new P4 3400E system to my left CANNOT touch the XP3200+ & 9800 Pro combo sitting to my right in ANY 3D test. :)

i also will say no way...the x300 is basically a 9600(non-pro) in pciex16 form. it is clocked at 325/400 w/ 128mb, 128bit---some are even further butchered to 64bit, but i think those are the x300se's.

    no way is that beating a 9800pro clocked at 380/680 w/ 128mb(256mb), 256bit.

is the frame limiter on in the game? maybe it's not a true 9800pro, you know one with 128bit bus instead of 256bit???

The X300 is sitting on a new P4 3.4 with raptor HDs, 2gig ram... the 9800pro is sitting in a 2800+ barton, 512ram
