Trouble with PCI card

I am trying to install a PCI card into my dad's girlfriends computer. It is an SMC 1244TX card. The trouble I am having is that the computer keeps saying it is a Realtek card and can't find the frivers for it. I have tried two cards and get the same thing.
The computer is an Emachines with windows ME.

The reason why Windows is saying the card is a Realtek is probably that the network card is based on a Realtek chipset. It is fine and the card should operate just fine with the Realtek drivers. If you really want to use the SMC drivers, go to Device Manager, find the network card and update the Realtek driver to the SMC driver off the driver disc or off SMC's website.

It won't work with the drivers that windows wants to give it. It keeps saying to put in the Windows ME disk. I tried that and it won't work. And I can't seem to get the SMC drivers to work either.
