sata raid0-hangs after install on xp startup screen..help

edited December 2004 in Hardware
ive have the gigabyte K8NS Pro motherboard which has 2 silicon image sata ports/slots. i havent currently got a floppy drive, so i managed to integrate the drivers for this onto the setup cd (nlite) and this allowed windows xp pro setup to see the raid0 drive!

all was well i thought, but then after it had copied all the files to the hdd and then rebooted the machine it displays the windows boot screen (big 4 colour window with the progress bar on) trouble is it stays here for about 1 minute doing nothing then blue screen error message displays saying check your harddrive setup.

any suggestions as to what i might try wll be greatly appreciated, as i cant use my 2 36Gb raptors!

oh yeh windows xp installs fine on a single 36gb raptor drive

    1. update the raid bios

    2. buy and install a 7 dollar floppy drive

    3. make sure you have the latest drivers for the sata raid controller.

    last ditch effort..
    4. install it on the single drive, then in windows disk manager, convert the drive to dynamic, shutdown install the second drive boot up, in windows go back into disk manager, convert the second drive to dynamic and add it as a spanned volume... not the best way but if you really want the drive...

Okay, well as Gobbles suggested, the first thing to do would be to get your SATA RAID BIOS and drivers fully up to date. The latest BIOS revision for your board is revision F8 which I believe contains the latest SATA SI3512 controller BIOS, which is v4347. Check you've got that flashed, then post back.
