I've lost my copy of XP, HELP!

I have a problem. I've lost my copy of XP home upgrade and my daughters system is due for reformat and re-install (XP has outgrown it's space on C: drive (4 gigs) with all the various security updates, SP1 and SP2, and is getting unstable due to lack of virtual memory and available disk space). My son has just purchased the full version of XP pro with SP2 already on it and my question is this: Can I install my son's copy of XP pro on my daughter's rig using the XP home upgrade's key without getting into trouble? Will I be able to utilize the auto-update feature of XP as well? Is this wrong? Somebody please fill me in on the legalities here, as I already purchased one copy of XP but no longer have it, and will (might) be using a CD key that is legally obtained, but for a different version.

If this is wrong please delete this post and inform me, I don't really know, that's why I am asking.

Thanks guys! MGK
