Strange error in 2000

I have Windows 2000 loaded on a small 3 GB hard drive waiting for my BP6 motherboard to get here. I set up the hard drive on my normal desktop system today to download some BP6 drivers, but I had a strange error.

I was getting a screen saying error 30 - unspecified error in dialog.

It would go on the internet and click around various websites, but I couldn't click the mouse to make the cursor appear in a specific spot. I couldn't type in my user name or password for Hotmail, or type messages on other boards.

And it wouldn't let me get into C << Program Files and see the files either.

WTF? And more importantly, how can I fix it? The hard drive worked fine the last time I used it about a week ago.

I put my desktop back on its normal hard drives to come here and write this message. Couldn't do it with the 3 GB 2000 drive.

You installed Win2K on the 3GB HDD with the machine you're on now or on another one?

No, on my desktop I disconnected my 2 regular hard drives and hooked up the 3 GB to put 2000 Pro on it.

Now a week later, I put the 3 GB back on (by itself, as before) to download some BP6 drivers, and the mouse click cursor won't work.

I uninstalled ZoneAlarm 5.1 from the 3 GB with Add/Remove Programs in C << Control Panel right before the problems started. Could that be it, and if so, how to fix it?

Reinstall ZoneAlarm? :D My guess is that ZoneAlarm probably left something behind or uninstalled something that wasn't supposed to be removed. If reinstalling doesn't work, you could always try doing a repair install.
