win98:bye bye home search: how I got rid of it
I did this in windows 98
first I downloaded and installed AVG anti-virus (free edition - 2005 - www.grisoft.com)
then I restarted my machine in MS-DOS, typed c:scandisc
I completed the scandisc,restarted my machine in normal mode and went to control panel, opend the add/remove software dialog and repaired Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Then I restarted my machine and when I came back in to windows AVG told me there were 2 virusses. I moved them to the virus vault.
I accidentaly removed the home search assistent like that
