No, not unless you have a direct network connection to that person.

you can email them the file as an attatchment being you have a gmail account.

If they are next door then just buy a really long CAT5/6 cable (100m max) and run it from their machine to yours (assuming you both have network cards, they aren't exactly expensive at about £1.50).

No i dont think i have a direct network connection.
And i would send an attatchment through msn but i can only send 10mb! do u no of another place where i can get gmail? Wat do u mean by ftp? Also if i buy a cable, im gonna have to drill holes through the walls and stuff. or i can take the cable out from the front door, but thats way too much work.

You could always get a DVD-RW and burn it onto DVD :-)

Sending 1gb across normal internet speeds is gonna be a b!tch. IMHO you're better off burning it to multiple cd's or a dvd and walking over and giving it to him.

ya i am planning on burning the file on a dvd. but im the one that has the dvd burner. they only have a cd burner. so thats y i need the file on my computer. the reason im doing all this is because i have an avi file and i want to convert it into a dvd. so i got this software that does that. the only problem is when i try to convert, this message pops up saying:

"avi2mpg.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created."

then the program shuts down automatically. This pop up is really really anoying. so thats why i burned the file on a dvd and took it next door so i could convert it there. and now it worked on their computer but now they dont have a dvd burner. :bawling: so every time i go next door, im gonna have to use up multiple cd's, and then bring it to my house and put it on a dvd. thats why i want to send the file to my computer through internet.

if it wasn't for the stupid pop up
(i posted this pop up problem on the spyware forum, but it still kept coming, maybe i should post it again)

by the way, thanks for the quick replies

The problem isn't downloading. It's uploading. Most upload speeds are 26kbps to around 70-something kbps (forgot the actual speed for 768kbps). It'll take hours.

WinRAR->Multiple Files. Send files one at a time. WinRAR them back into one file.
