Okay so I got one new speakers for xmas...the Logitech Z-680's. Now on the back of the control panel it has a "digital coax" connection. As shown below.

Now on the back of my sound card I have a digital out but it's more like an audio jack as apposed to a coax jack (see below). I'm not sure if i can use this or what, but I was just curious. Thanks.

Hmmmmmm, dunno. You have Soundstorm on that baby? Cause its well worth it to use the optical out. I'll assume you don't though, or else thats what you'd be doing!! I haven't tried the coax jack because I have nothing compatible with it.

Yeah all I have is my Audigy 2, no optical connections.

Uh ohs. Is that a Creative Labs Audigy 2 xxx?

If so, the fact is, you can't. Technically, you can get an adapter (1/8" -> RCA) and run it that way. From what I've read, however, it will only be in stereo.

Apparently (as I said in my speaker thread), Creative uses a proprietary digital signal that ONLY Creative speakers can digitally decode.

If you want, a 1/8" -> RCA adapter is super cheap. If you've got one laying around, give it a shot - perhaps it will work. I honestly couldn't find a whole lot of definite info on the subject.

My speakers and M-Audio Revolution 5.1 are going to be here in a few minutes. :D:D:D
I also have a Audigy 2 ZS that I could not cancel coming, so if you get it to work, I just may keep the ZS.

This has some info regarding this, though I don't know how well it works.

    Good luck :)

The quality is just fine right now, but since I'm a geek I'd liek to go with the best quality possible :D But if I can't do it oh well. Analog will work just fine.
