Any trouble with MSI Core Center?

I just built my new A64 rig, using an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum MB. It is running great, but I was somewhat disappointed with the Folding performance.

After some tinkering I turned off the MSI Core Center (MSI's equivalent to MBM5). ZOOM! My Folding performance nearly doubled.

:celebrate

Any other MSI MB users notice this?

I recently built a box with an MSI KT880 Delta-FSR that had the same problem as well as their new poor excuse for a bios. The whole system seemed to be bogged down by their entire set of utilities. I hope you have better luck.

I immediately killed all the crapola that the "One-Click Install" thing put on there. The exception was the Core Center. I figured it would make a decent replacement for MBM5 since it is no longer being supported.

I've had no other troubles, knock wood. :p

Was it taking a lot of CPU time?

I dont know if this is an option or not but on my Dell Laptop I can take temps and stuff thru software or thru the BIOS. The BIOS should be much easier on the CPU since assembly is so much quicker than any code.

It didn't really use a lot of the CPU. The only thing I can figure is that it kept interrupting the Folding process somehow.

I'm looking into another way to monitor temps.

I'd bet your right. I made sure to turn that off right away, but it seems MSI's settings don't always take effect...

More than likely this is the case. I had several wierd things happen with Core Center software and have stopped using it for the very same reason as you

You might try SpeedFan and see if it reads your board OK. I've used it before and it was the only app that really read my old Gigabyte GA-60XET socket 370 mobo correctly. It's still being actively supported and upgraded too.

Had trouble with MSI core centre also. My motherboard is a MSI 865PE Neo2 PFS with a 3.2G prescott. It slowed down folding and also crashed my system when fast switching between users. Needless to say it has been uninstalled with better results.
