IE Flaw Exploited

edited January 2005 in Science & Tech
Internet Explorer has become an even bigger security risk--even under Windows XP SP2--with the publication of a new and extensive exploit.
Security researchers have warned that the exploit, which takes advantage of known loopholes in SP2, could allow an attacker to run script code on a user's system via a specially crafted Web page.

The holes involved have been known publicly for more than two months, but previous exploit techniques required the user to take actions such as dragging an image from one part of a Web page to another. The new exploit--a demonstration of which has been published by Danish security firm Secunia--is fully automated, requiring the user only to visit a Web page in Explorer. Other browsers and operating systems aren't affected.

If you're still using IE, this is basically your last warning to jump ship NOW!

I use IE just fine.... I have no problems...

It dosen't matter what browser you use if you are not useing up to date Virus and Spyware protection your gonna get a bug. I'm not doggin any one who uses other browsers. I used Firebird or what ever that other thing is and it looks a lot like IE but I noticed that not all web sites displayed properly so I let it go.

When I browse a site I want to see all the stuff I'm supposed to see, plus not all plugins work correctly. Things like Video clips and stuff...

Ya know the older I get the more impacient I am at trying to unlock the secrests of software and manually configure stuff... I don't have the time or the will to take the time dinking around with trying to manually configure a web browser to display site content correctly not to mention the fact that once I'm done within a day or two they will update that site and I'll have to do it all over again.... Thus I just use IE and make sure that my Virus and Spyware protection is upto date and on guard ful time....

They just need to get patches out as soon as they can so we can plug the hole before anybody figures it out....

I want to point out that most of these so called exploits are found by people that make it their business to find them before a bad guy does.... Hardly ever does that translate into your and my computers being taken over or exploited... Whats the point...

Any way if your smart you have figured out by now that you never store any sensitive information on a computer that you intend to connect to the net....

    Just my thoughts,

I'm kinda glad that I am using Mozilla now. But I am also annoyed by the websites that aren't compatible with mozilla, as well as some plug ins (such as Quicktime Alternative)

It doesn't work at quite a few websites, for example:
    http://www.ringtonejukebox.com/
    http://www.3gupload.com

It also doesn't play imbedded sounds in webpages.
