I was going to buy a 19in monitor, but since my dad sold his truck, he got extra money to put towards my monitor, and he told me just go for a bigger, and not have to buy another one later on, so i chose this 22in nec, is this a good deal??

the monitor is here

I got mine refurbed for less than $300. Know what the highest refresh rates are that are available for the higher resolutions?

That is one of the nicest 22" CRT's I've ever seen.
Shipping is going to cost you an arm & a leg as it weighs nearly 70 lbs.

    Good deal? I think so.

Seeing as the cheapest big-CRT I can find is a 21" Sony P1130 FD Trinitron apperature grille with 3 year warranty in a black & silver case for $599 CDN ($430 USD), I'd suggest you go with that beauty 22" monitor. :D

I'm thinking about getting a nice lcd, it gets really hot in my room with 3 crt's. And I am going to get a kvm also to cut back, but still, I'm gonna add another pc in here before christmas so got to cut back on some heat.

What size is your dorm room? I managed to perfectly fit an Antec SX1080 tower and 2x17" monitors on a desk that measured 28" deep and 48" wide in the dorms at Carleton University.

When it comes to viewable space, there is only one rule: "bigger is better."

As for the heat that comes from a CRT, that's why we have floor fans :D

is gona be using his own desk for his 21" CRT when he gets to his dorm..
The desks given to students at most universities are usually writing desks.

At this point in time, the best LCD cannot beat the best CRT.

Thrax will be anti-LCD until shifts in polarization are as fast as the painting of an electron gun.

its really small...well atleast stony brook campus is...it has crazy small desks with an overhanging sort of shelf thing...and the only way to fit a 19" there is to dismantle the shelf-thing-a-ma-bob...and put it sumwhere else...so its just an inconvience...

The organic LED's coming out within a few years should make thin monitors much more appealing, but till then I'll stick with the larger, bulkier, yet otherwise best choice.

Lcd's arent as good as crt's but still, they are sweet looking, despite the ghosting problems, which I don't game on my compute much ( yet ) so until the prices drop a bit I want get a lcd, just a kvm for now.
