Will reloading my system cure ads234?

I have a home computer that is infected with the ads123 virus. The computer is home use so there are not lots of files to be saved on it, mostly e-mails and some letters. COuld I back up my files and re-install the software
win XP, to remove the spyware. Otherwise I will be doing the hijack this posting, I have run ad aware and spybot and have current norton security.
Advice? Directions? Our system is extremely slow and cumbersome.

    Do not reformat your drive to get rid of spyware. If you follow the given instructions exactly, it is actually not very hard to remove. Please post a HJT log here for reviewing.
