I have had a few instances where Windows doesn't always detect a device first off. Sometimes you need to install the drivers, then with the PC switched off plug in the USB device and boot up your computer to see if it will detect it.
Sometimes you can plug in the device while the PC is switched on and it will detect it then you install the drivers. Its just the way it goes sometimes
Just a thought..if you've been working inside the case recently ...ie installing a new graphics card or something... you may have accidently caught the USB cable that connects to the motherboard.
Might be a good idea to check just to be sure

All you can really do is try to reinstall the driver for it.
It will sometimes detect the device, and other times not.
