WoW 10 day guest pass
So I've really gotten into SWG, I freaking love this game, I finally got to a higher level profession (Teras Kasi Novice) which allows me to beat the crap out of things without dying all the time. However, all this grinding for xp has gotten to me a little, so I'm feeling like seeing what else is out there.
I e-mailed WoW billing to see if they offered a free trial or demo period on the game and they said no,
And before you ask, I love SWG because:
1. I'm tired of every single MMORPG taking place in a fantasy universe, why does every one have to have Orcs, Elves, Fairies, etc....?
2. I love Star Wars and wanted to be a Jedi when I saw those flicks. I still believe in their code if you will, their way of life I guess. I'm a nice guy at heart. If I could make a living as something like that today, I think I would. But then I'm married and they never get married I think, so right away, I'd have to split off the order and create my own order. Something like that.
3. Maybe it's because this is the first MMORPG I've really played (I played like 3 months of EQ when it first came out, but didn't play all that much) but I love the fact that the economy on SWG is self sustaining. Just about everything you buy has been crafted by a real person, not just generated. I love this, it really gives the place a feeling that it is alive.
I'll agree, the game can get boring, especially in the early stages, but I still get a kick out of it. Anyhow, this is not a "convince me to switch" thread, I just want to know if any of you have that ten day pass that you want to share or not.
Thanks.

I know Thrax hates SWG and looooooooooves WoW, and I'm sure many of you feel the same, but I'm not looking for YOUR opinion though What I want to know is if anyone of you still have said guest pass so that I can give this game a try. Anyone, anyone?"However, please note that all Collector's Editions
shipped with a 10 day Guest Pass which was designed to give customers
the opportunity to share the World of Warcraft experience with their
friends."

I think SWG is superiour in certain dynamics than WoW
I think a number of MMORPG's are better than WoW
the main RPG I played was Asherons Call (and Asherons call dark majesty) for 16+ months and think they are a superior game, I played other MMORPG's but this was the best that I now compare others too.
So since you play SWG "IMOHO" - it is better that WoW
So grab if you can a free look, I played Wow for a month heavily (had serveral toons above level 20+) and was bored to tears
IMOHO again I stress
cheers
Yes "toon" is another term for character or whatever term you want to give it. It is short for cartoon
"Toon" seems to be the acceptable reference to characters in a MMORPG
I just talked to someone who played SWG a lot more than I did (my cable installer, heh). He said that being a Jedi isn't all that it's cracked up to be. There are some professions that can take on a Jedi single-handed (all you've got to do is keep knocking someone down, and you win, whoever they are). That's just not right, folks. He sold his account for major dough after he got tired of it.
One thing I'll give it credit for - SWG has an awesome economy system. I'm having a hard time deciding weather I'll go back to SWG or start WoW, but I'm leaning a little bit towards WoW.
I play a ton of WOW and love it. I have 5 toons and still haven't explored 25% of the world, tho only 1 is on the 'good guys' side and he's only lvl 14. 40 Orc Shaman, 28 Undead Priest, 27 Tauren Warrior, 24 Troll Hunter(all on Doomhammer), 14 Dwarf Palladin on Elune. Bought my ride (wolf) as soon as I hit 40 on Weds.
I cannot express how huge this world is or how well done and diverse the areas are. Some of the crafting needs to be tweaked, as it's not very rewarding or usefull in certain cases - for example, enchanting is a total money sink until very high level, then enchants get very expensive and leatherworking isn't much in demand. The instanced dungeons are *a little* too hard for the levels they are supposed to represent and definitely too long at 2-3 hours per.
I figure I'll try it again once a trial is available (I was in both the stress-test and beta available to FilePlanet subscribers) and make my final decision as to weather or not I feel it's worth my $15 a month. I'll just have to be sure to join a server where I have friends playing this time.
That will easily run WoW. My friend runs WoW on his 1.5 pentium-m laptop with a geforce go 5200 and 256 (or maybe 512) ram.
System reqs if you're interested, from www.worldofwarcraft.com
Windows® System 98/ME/2000/XP OS:
* 800 MHz or higher CPU
* 256 MB or more of RAM
* 32 MB 3D graphics card with hardware transform and lighting, such as GeForce 2 or better
* 4 GB or more of available hard drive space
* DirectX® 9.0c or above
* A 56k or higher modem with an Internet connection
I'd say this game is definitely worth 15 a month. It's my first MMORPG and I love it!
True, but I also have to shell out $50 to buy it. If I'm spending $50 on something, it better provide me with a lot more than one month's entertainment.
