New memory triggers bluescreen, please help!

Hi

Just installed a new memory (Canyon DDR 256MB PC3299 400Mhz CL.2.5) in my Matsonic MS8137C+ motherboard. In one of the DDR slots there is already a memory (256MB PC2100).
When i start windows xp sp2, I get the bluescreen with PFN_LIST_CORRUPT message with STOP: 0x0000004E

So i remove the old memory and leave the new one (Canyon) in, and it works fine! What is my problem?

    heres the microsoft support doc

to be honest, im not exactly sure what that means. im pretty sure your new ram is bad, or you need to change some setting in the bios

edit: upon further inspection, your board supports both DDR and SDRAM. are you sure you put your ram at the right place?

Yeah sure both RAMs are in the DDR slots!
And the new RAM works alone so that should mean its not bad?
What settings could be wrong in BIOS?

I'm sorry I didn't read the last line there
wait for someone else to reply. I suck at troubleshooting things when I can't look at them

Look for something under "Memory Timing" or anything similar. Sometimes they'll just have a choice like "Normal>>Fast>>Turbo". Try a slower setting.

You might also try putting the memory in different slots.

Your problem is in what you tried to do: Mix offbrand memory of questionable quality. That's a bad idea. Not all memory is made the same -- the less it costs, the more likely you are to encounter issues and vice versa.

Word to the wise: Don't mix offbrand DIMMs.

Yeah best bet of getting them working at all is to go ultra-conservative on the settings in bios (more conservative than the rated timings).

It's probably due to the mixing of the ram. Do they each work alone in the board?

Ok, switched DDR-slots with the two cards and now it's working fine. Sometimes there's a simple solution!
Thanks for all the help guys!
