Home Search Hijack(kcross8480)-Can't quite get rid of it

Ok guys, first and foremost, let me thank all of you for any help you can provide. I think I'm really close to snuffing this out, but I can't quite get it. I've run AdawareSE and Spybot 1.3. I've also followed the guide for removing Home Search, but try as I might I couldn't get it out. If I was to guess I would assume I'm either not removing something I should be in Hijack This, or I'm not removing I should be in the Registry. One important note, when I look at "my" Regedit, I do not get that "highlight left side see stuff on the right side" kind of interface. I can browse the the directories, but when I click on something like "Services" for example, I get nothing on the right side except for (Default) Reg_SZ (value not set). This could just be me not understanding the instructions or being a regedit noob. Please let me know if I'm missing something obvious. You will see my log below. Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

You've got a very healthy HSA infection along with a few trojan viruses.

    1. Download this tool called AboutBuster http://www.downloads.subratam.org/AboutBuster.zip

Unzip it to your desktop but don't run it yet.

    2. Download Adaware from http://www.lavasoft.de/english/default.shtml. Install and open Adaware and click on *Check for Updates Now* and then *Connect*. It will find a new reference-file. Click *ok* and let it download and install the updates by clicking on *Finish* .This will return you to the main screen. Exit Adaware.

    3. Print out these instructions so you have them handy as most of the steps need to be done in safe mode and you may not be able to go online.

    4. Make sure your PC is configured to show hidden files

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    5. Next, go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok

Scroll down and find the service called "Network Security Service". When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows.

    6. Reboot to Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. To get back to normal mode just restart the computer as you normally would.

    7. Scan with Hijack This and put checks next to all the following, then click "Fix Checked"

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\czgnr.dll/sp.html#44768

and delete the following files if present.

    C:\WINDOWS\sysvy.exe
    C:\windows\system32\X6uGi.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\bbse.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\systp.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\apisg32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\czgnr.dll

    8. Double click AboutBuster.exe that you downloaded earlier. Click OK, click Start, then click OK. This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them. Save the report(copy and paste into notepad or wordpad and save as a .txt file) and post a copy back here when you are done with all the steps.

    9. Scan with Adaware and let it remove any bad files found.

    10. Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin

    11. Reboot to normal mode, scan again with Hijack This and post a new log here.

    12. Finally, do an online scan at the following site. Let it remove any infected files found.
    Trend Micro (PC-cillin) - Free on-line Scan
    http://housecall.antivirus.com

    13. Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as FindFile.bat and save it on your Desktop.
    dir C:\WINDOWS\system32\n?svc32.exe /a h > files.txt
    notepad files.txt
Locate FindFile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here.

Post a fresh HijackThis log and the AboutBuster report back here please.

Ok, I've run through all the steps your requested and I have the various logs posted below. All I can say is this is a much more difficult than any problem I've dealth with in the past. I appreciate all your help with this.

In summary, I've run adaware, hijack this, and about buster in safe mode and in normal boot afterwards. I also ran the housecall and eliminated about 7 viruses. I am amazed I generated all this in one weekend. I was watching windows tell me stuff was being installed on Saturday and trying to cancel it but not having the ability. That was frustrating.

Anyways, please see the logs below and pass along any more advice or let me know if I'm in the clear. My only remaining worry is if any of this stuff is still residing in my registry and will respawn when I reboot again.

Your log is looking much better. Unless you want restrictions on your control panel access you can fix this line with hijackthis.

    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Download(right click and select Save file as or Save link as): DelDomains.inf
    http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

To use: Close all open browsers
    Right-click DelDomains.inf and select: Install

And finally please find this file and delete it. The "?" represents and unknown character so it could be anything and there are likely to be other files that are very similar.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\n?svc32.exe <- delete the file was created on 1/11/05 and is 401kb in size.

Reboot your computer and post a new hijackthis log.
