If you can C-A-D then go to Task Manager click on File> new and type explore.exe Ok out of there. You might be able to start system restore from there also although I don't see that when I browse
Or go Start your computer to Safe Mode with Command Prompt. At the command prompt,
type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER.
Follow the instructions on the screen to begin restoring your computer to a previous, functional state.

thanks Maggie. i was able to get them to display by reinstalling internet explorer but none of the other icons are working at this time. I will follow what you said it looks like thats what i missed out on. THank you. This is only to restore me to a point that i can continue to get rid of the about:blank bug that i havent gotten a reply on in the other forums. I have submitted a hijack log for review so im waiting for some input. Thanks again tho i seem to be slowly recovering.

I used to make an ERD everytime I was going to change hardware or software. They came in handy if things got fubared. I used the same floppy over again, just formatted it each time. This got me out of many problems. Mostly ones I had caused. I'd try anything when 2000 first came out.
