Suggestion: Site Of The Day

edited March 2005 in Community
How about a section, possibly in the news section, of a site of the day? It could be anywhere from zany to tech related to health issues and anywhere in between. I think the news section would be good due to the format and the ability to put a little blurb in there about the site and why it would be a worthwhile to visit there.

I agree. People always ask how I find half the random stuff I do, and it's because people link it. I think it'd be an excellent thing (and helpful/educational, too).

How about of the Week, Month, and Year instead.... Unless Kingfish chooses the site of the day, that is.... :D;):p:cool:

    Tech Books for Free

Open source PDF/DOC books on a variety of subjects: Programming, web design, networking, mathematics, sciences (Physics, astronomy, chemistry) and more. Many of the textbooks are written by GPL-supporting college professors for their classrooms.

    That's my submission. ;D

Straight Man: There's plenty of interesting sites out there to support a site of the day. I don't think it would be oversaturated by doing one a day. I think a site of the day or week would be a bit sparse given the size of the internet.

Entropy: I find a lot of good random stuff in computer magazines myself as well as stuff here and there. I think everyone would benefit from this like you and I have as it would somewhat broaden peoples' horizons a bit.

Thrax: Sounds like that site is a good start. I think we could use the "news submission" for suggestions for sites of the day if we were to use the news section. I'm sure you and entropy could come up with some excellent suggestions.

Prime: Do you think the news section would be good for it or do you have another vehicle for it that you'd like to use? I think the news section would be a good place for this mixed in with the news stories and short-media articles but the table is wide open for discussion if you think we can implement this idea. How do the other admins/sysops feel about it?

let's see what shorty has to say. I think it might be cool to have it as a seperate element , like it's own box on the main page or on the forums main page or something.

No apologies needed. I just wanted to make sure it didn't die or get swept under the rug.

Sorry guys, but you must understand how unbelievably busy shorty is right now. He has gone through some major life changes, the least of which is moving across the country into a new town and starting a brand new career with a brand new skillset. Cut the guy some slack, he's the sole site coder here :(

    Closed thread trespasser! :p
Another shameless abuse of admin powers!
    j/k
I understand, it's been quite busy for me too. Good luck on the move shorty.
