mk, a friend of mine is having some trouble with a hard drive from an old dell machine. I dont think its still a dell machine as much as a frankenstien. Ive looked on dells site for a hdd utility but came up short, do u think a Maxtor or WD utility would work correctly?

What's written on the drive? What model is the Dell? We might be able to track it down from there.

Also, what size is the drive? I have an old utility which was excellent in its day, but will only work on drives 8.4GB and smaller. If this applies to you, let me know and I'll send it to you. :)

Death is not a good sign. Drawing on my many years of experience in the field, it is my considered opinion that the drive is bad.
