SATA ide controller - USB prob ?

edited January 2005 in Hardware
I have bought a Promise TX2+ ide-sata controller and a seagate 7200.8 HDD. to boost the performance of my shuttle sn41g barebone. -But after i reinstalled XP on the sata drive and everything is up and running, my usb flashdrive, aswell as my ipod (both firewire and usb) results in blue screen and restarting the system when i connect them, but my usb keyboard/ mouse works ! My external HDD works when i start it up, but when i flip the power on the HDD box, the system reboots.

Power should not be a problem, since i have no agp card, and only the one HDD, the new sata one.

I have installed the latest bios and nforce chipset drivers.

Im going crazy here..

IS it sharing an IRQ with the USB? You have board level IRQ's and you share FOUR IRQ's for agp, every pci slot, usb etc... And then Windows assigns virtual IRQ's

Try moving it to a differant slot.

My system is a barebone, -no graphicscard in the agp (i use the onboard geforce4mx) and only one IDE channel, in which the controller card is inserted, so it is hard to move anything around.

Next, i dont know how to change these IRQ´s ?
