Well i started folding not too long ago, however im haveing some issues that im pretty sure are out of my control for the time being. I completed two WU's and after the second one im unable to send the results in after leaveing it gonig over night. I tired this sending them in a few times but still no luck, i have a pretty good feeling that its my internet connection thats the issue, im useing a screwred up 56k (its a mess) and i dont have any other options at this time. really i just want to know if theres any other options for sending in results or if im pretty much stuck useing the F@H client. If any one has any suggestions please toss them my way

Internet info: Its a goverment ran service due to my location and the local Tel/Comm situation. Its pretty much locked down they got most the ports closed off and i cant get the opened up. about all we can do is shop and chat. No online gameing.

If you have access to another place to get on the internet besides your present connections, you still have options. :) I normally don't advocate this for people just starting out, but if you can't send in work on your present connection, I'll tell you how to do it.

Do you have another form of internet access besides your present connection? It won't be necessary to drag your computer to it, but you must have a computer at the different internet access point.

No all the net access here is ran through the same setup no other options really exist out here at this time, i might be able to have a buddy of mine send it in for me but not too sure how that would work out overall, and it would be a pain of me to have him do it for me ever few weeks after ive done a bunch of work. right now ill probly just store my work and dump it to him in groups to see about uploading if thats even an option.

You can set the console version of the client up to do "timeless" wu's, which have no set time limit and download them in groups of 10. The best way to move the work between computers is to get you a cheap usb thumb drive and put the console folder on it. That way, you can go to a computer that has unrestricted access to the net and download and upload wu's, then bring the thumb drive back to your computer and plug it into it and process the wu's on your own machine. That is basically what is called "sneakernetting" work. :)

I have had some trouble, but everything eventually went. With the new, larger work units the total send/receive time on dial-up is now about 35 min. each.
Considering that Tinkers will send/receive in about 4 min. it hurts.

Are you running the graphical or the console version? Not that it really matters since the -send all flag dosen't work any more.

Yeah, I see your point now. It's not like you can run down the road ro your buddy's house and hook up to his dsl or something.

Ed, the -send all flag most certainly still works with the console 5.02; I use it all the time when I have a wu that I have trouble sending when offshore. I just save the whole damn folder in a temporary holding area I call "folding stash" and if I have multiple wu's hang up I just rename the stashed folders. When I get in from the rig, I just stop my current wu and make shortcuts for each stashed wu and add the -send all flag to the target and no problems sending. After I have sent in all my stashed work, I then restart original client and delete all the stashed folders.
